This is a really tough journal to write. I feel guilty saying I was a friend of Chris Hale's, as I honestly didn't know him nearly as much as I know his brothers, but I definitely know his family and they've always treated me as one of theirs, so it's still very tragic news to me. Chris Hale was pursuing the thing in life he loved most and in doing so, died this past Sunday.
This is the local newspaper's article on the matter, probably the most informative on the internet. Essentially, he was in Yosemite National Park for the summer and he was hiking somewhere when (and this is all a guess as nothing's official yet) he fell to his death. Rock climbing was his passion and the location where he was found (Mirror Lake) is very beautiful, so I like to think he died as happy as any one could be.
I'll be attending his memorial service Tuesday. It's unfortunate that such a great guy had to die at such an early age, he'll be greatly missed by friends and family alike.
Sian will be landing in Gainesville this coming Monday and staying for a whole month. I really can't wait until she gets here. It's going to be lots of fun!
However, this may mean that I won't be on dA as much as I usually am, so try not to miss me too much.
